The 6th International Festival of Town Pipers
Gloucester:   12th – 14th September 2014

Arranged and planned by Simon Pickard of the Gloucester Waites and the IGTP, in association with Gloucester Civic Trust, Folk Museum and Cathedral.

The wild boar badge of Richard, Duke of Gloucester, is the 2014 festival emblem.

The eight bands who attended were the Waites of Colchester, Doncaster, Gloucester, King’s Lynn, Leeds, Lincoln and York, and Waytes & Measures and the Stadspijpers van ‘s-Hertogenbosch (The Netherlands). During the festival, these musicians performed at Blackfriars Priory, the churches of St Nicholas, St Mary de Lode and St Mary de Crypt, the Cathedral precinct and the Folk Museum. A special feature of the Sunday was the “Great Noyse” of massed bands in the Cathedral Close.

Friday 12th September 2014

All participating Bands were invited to a reception/buffet in the Parliament Room at Gloucester Cathedral.

Saturday 13th September 2014

After a busy day of performance, musicians and friends dined at Blackfriars Priory.

Sunday 14th September 2014

Bands processed individually to the west front of Gloucester Cathedral and took their places for “The Great Noyse” (previously known as the “Big Blow”). This massed bands performance took place in the Cathedral Close at lunchtime on the 14th.
